Attachment Narrative therapy
Attachment Narrative Therapy (ANT) is an integrative approach to healing where attachment theory, narrative therapy and systemic family therapy are utilized in combination with one another to facilitate mental health. The process is one where your story - in your own words - provides a framework for understanding how early relationships influence current behavior and emotional patterns all of which are contained in a respectful, non blaming, collaborative healing environment.
Attachment — the deep and enduring emotional bond between an infant and their primary caretaker plays a significant role in the formation of a child’s social and emotional development, stress regulation and future relationship patterns. Attachment is key to who we become and why and in the telling of your story, the attachment experience becomes poignant offering insights and understandings that can change the course of your life.
We will identify the different attachment possibilities and their impact on development. We will tease apart Secure Attachment formed when caregivers are responsive and consistent, leading to confident exploration and comfortable soothing from (2) Insecure Attachment (avoidant/ambivalent) a result of distant and inconsistent connection to the caregiver and finally (3) Disorganized Attachment which results from fear, neglect or abuse.
Our focus will to be examine and understand in depth the narrative that is currently defining your sense of self. We will employ your story to lead the way, encouraging a rewrite when necessary and all the while uncovering strengths and unique outcomes.
To allow a person to bear witness to your most intimate self journey while processing the dominant narratives that have shaped your life, past trauma can be rewritten, doors can be open where new choices present themselves to help diminish the overwhelm living can create, your identities and experiences can be reshaped and a quiet peace can be restored.
